Q: Is this real?
A: No. Bad Guy Supply is a parody of online retail stores intended for comedic purposes only. While that is a real photo of me in the "About Us" section (about 30lbs. heavier), I do not actually sell "stabbin' knives" out of my bedroom.
I am flattered that my website is so convincing, but this has come up often enough I feel the need to clarify.
I do not encourage, advocate, or condone the acquisition or use of any of these products in furtherance of schemes, plots, or tomfoolery of any kind.
Q: How did you come up with this?
A: It's something of a recurring joke in geeky circles. "Where do super villains get all their stuff?"
With that running in the back of my head, I found a reprint of the 1897 Sears & Roebuck catalog at a book fair. The prose is folksy; the product descriptions read more like a shopkeeper talking than the dry copy you see on Amazon.
The prose is also amusingly hyperbolic. The catalog outright alleges a global price-gouging conspiracy among Sodium Bicarbonate distributors, to name one example.
Something clicked and Bad Guy Supply was born.
